ABOUT THE COLLECTION

The Americana Collection Fine Art collaboration with photographer Caroline Jean Gray began when she and Lydia serendipitously struck up a friendship in the streets of Middleburg, Virginia; a place dear to both artists, the pair began working together in 2024. Quickly they realized their shared love for a focus on creating art to uplift the soul and conversation drifted to the broad inspiration of American life. Suddenly the two were planning a collaboration to capture the iconic America that would promote, and reawaken a positive and uplifting vision. Together, creating a visual anthology that honors timeless elegance, regional character, and elevated style across the American landscape.

ABOUT THE PIECE:
As I drove through the city this spring, I started counting American flags. It wasn't a great turn out, to be honest. When I got closer to home I took delight in the nearby neighbor who is flying more American flags than he has square footage. Each time I've counted an American flag this summer I've noted it's context- an individual in a sea of otherwise seeming ambivalence-- or perhaps it's priority? Here is a delightful glimpse of a proudly flown Old Glory in the context of the ocean air on your face and the joy in the most basic beauty of America.

EXTRA THANKS To Caroline Gray for capturing these photos of the creation of this piece.

Original Artwork

Original art is the most valuable; the most sought after; the most desired. At our worst, we have stolen, betrayed, and killed for it. At our best, we have humbly cried before it-and it’s changed our hearts and lives and world view and perspective for the better.

In creating, the artist is imparting herself onto the paper. An artist’s hand in creating the work of art mimics our ultimate creator. In owning the original you’re owning a glimpse of the alpha. Lydia’s artwork is created on French watercolor paper with a variety of high quality pigments and brushes that are all collected in striving to imbue her paintings with a sense of the meaning that sits just beyond our gaze.
