ABOUT THE COLLECTION
HUNT COUNTRY -Oil

Lydia's first fell in love with oils as a student painting master copies of Willard Metcalf and John Singer Sargent.  These nine new pieces depict the gracious landscape of the region and landscape surrounding Lydia's childhood home in Loudoun County. Inspired by many walks with her mother throughout the years the trees were quiet companions to all their conversations. These are perspectives that have bubbled to the surface of inspiration as summer approaches. Each of the pieces were painted in a limited color palette to best communicate the beautiful summery haze of a Virginia summer.

ORIGINAL ARTWORK:
Each original painting has been painted with a palette knife and minimal use of brushstrokes with French oil pigments that show off the brilliant color of each location. Each piece was completed in one sitting and is a impressionistic, Lydia often squinted while painting to ensure she was capturing the scene correctly.

Original Artwork

Original art is the most valuable; the most sought after; the most desired. At our worst, we have stolen, betrayed, and killed for it. At our best, we have humbly cried before it-and it’s changed our hearts and lives and world view and perspective for the better.

In creating, the artist is imparting herself onto the paper. An artist’s hand in creating the work of art mimics our ultimate creator. In owning the original you’re owning a glimpse of the alpha. Lydia’s artwork is created on French watercolor paper with a variety of high quality pigments and brushes that are all collected in striving to imbue her paintings with a sense of the meaning that sits just beyond our gaze.
