ABOUT THE COLLECTION
In the Garden Collection // Hunt Country Collection

The Trinity Episcopal Church in Upperville has an appeal for Christian and secular Architectural connoisseur alike. For me the building brings back personal memories. As I surveyed the grounds a new this year, I was confronted by this breezeway. Not the expected iconic front or interior of the church, but this passage. An between places.
Most of us have been to churches for births and baptisms, weddings, and funerals. All passages from one place to another. There are walls between each and questions about what is ahead and yet each moment holds the promise of life ahead.

There are several spaces depicted in this painting, depending on your perception- the perspective of the viewer standing, this side of the breezeway we can see with a covered porch, beyond the covering (is there another on the other side? someone can only tell the viewer and we would have to believe it or not) the field bathed in sunshine and another arched hedge ahead.

Original Artwork

Original art is the most valuable; the most sought after; the most desired. At our worst, we have stolen, betrayed, and killed for it. At our best, we have humbly cried before it-and it’s changed our hearts and lives and world view and perspective for the better.

In creating, the artist is imparting herself onto the paper. An artist’s hand in creating the work of art mimics our ultimate creator. In owning the original you’re owning a glimpse of the alpha. Lydia’s artwork is created on French watercolor paper with a variety of high quality pigments and brushes that are all collected in striving to imbue her paintings with a sense of the meaning that sits just beyond our gaze.
