ABOUT THE COLLECTION
HUNT COUNTRY OILS

Lydia's love of oils was born in the study of masters — Willard Metcalf, John Singer Sargent — and that foundation is glimpsed the restraint and the texture of this piece. One of a limited number of oil paintings in her portfolio, this large-scale canvas captures the swath of land near the Bunny Mellon Estate in the early dawn light, executed in a limited palette that allows the soft haze of the Virginia countryside to speak entirely for itself. The stillness captures the viewer and commands the room.

This piece is an invitation to pause, here, and consider. Here in the world that screams ahead at a pace that we lose our breath to; here, may you catch your breath and find peace in the stillness and subtly.

These pieces are sold exclusively as originals and will not be reproduced.

It's truly a one of a kind.

ORIGINAL ARTWORK:
Each original painting has been painted on stretched canvas with variety of high quality pigments that show off the brilliant color of each location. The final painting has been varnished to illuminate the colors of the pigment.

Original Artwork

Original art is the most valuable; the most sought after; the most desired. At our worst, we have stolen, betrayed, and killed for it. At our best, we have humbly cried before it-and it’s changed our hearts and lives and world view and perspective for the better.

In creating, the artist is imparting herself onto the paper. An artist’s hand in creating the work of art mimics our ultimate creator. In owning the original you’re owning a glimpse of the alpha. Lydia’s artwork is created on French watercolor paper with a variety of high quality pigments and brushes that are all collected in striving to imbue her paintings with a sense of the meaning that sits just beyond our gaze.
