ABOUT THE COLLECTION
HUNT COUNTRY OILS

Lydia's first fell in love with oils as a student painting master copies of Willard Metcalf and John Singer Sargent. This is Lydia's first debut of oil work as a part of her professional portfolio. This extra large scene depicts the gracious landscape of the region and landscape surrounding Lydia's childhood home in Loudoun County. This piece particularly showcases a road Lydia ran every day in Cross Country while at school in Middleburg. This is the second time Lydia has painted this hill and it continues to be a thematic scene for the philosophical elements of her work to converge in one place.  This piece was completed in a limited color palette to best communicate the beautiful haze of a Virginia landscape in the early Dawn.

These pieces are sold exclusively as originals and will not be reproduced.

It's truly a one of a kind.

Original Artwork

Original art is the most valuable; the most sought after; the most desired. At our worst, we have stolen, betrayed, and killed for it. At our best, we have humbly cried before it-and it’s changed our hearts and lives and world view and perspective for the better.

In creating, the artist is imparting herself onto the paper. An artist’s hand in creating the work of art mimics our ultimate creator. In owning the original you’re owning a glimpse of the alpha. Lydia’s artwork is created on French watercolor paper with a variety of high quality pigments and brushes that are all collected in striving to imbue her paintings with a sense of the meaning that sits just beyond our gaze.
