Alice's Garden

$950.00

ABOUT THE COLLECTION

Flowers have always confounded Lydia- both on paper and in the garden. She has long admired the quiet confidence of a single sophisticated bloom set against a clean white ground, but her instincts at the brush are restless. She is, it turns out, a maximalist in every sense.

The breakthrough came on a long walk with her closest friends through the Virginia countryside, the light hitting the garden just so. Suddenly the paintings came bursting with sunshine and color and filled the paper with the entire scene!

These paintings are the result of years of quiet contemplation finally meeting a moment of pure inspiration — and what emerged is something close to a fauvist celebration of the summer garden in full, unapologetic bloom.

Original Artwork

Original art is the most valuable; the most sought after; the most desired. At our worst, we have stolen, betrayed, and killed for it. At our best, we have humbly cried before it-and it’s changed our hearts and lives and world view and perspective for the better.

In creating, the artist is imparting herself onto the paper. An artist’s hand in creating the work of art mimics our ultimate creator. In owning the original you’re owning a glimpse of the alpha. Lydia’s artwork is created on French watercolor paper with a variety of high quality pigments and brushes that are all collected in striving to imbue her paintings with a sense of the meaning that sits just beyond our gaze.
