ABOUT THE COLLECTION
The LME Americana Collection

This Collection will explores different aspects of Americana through my eyes. Each month will feature a different theme. A touch of American iconography in this decade.

April: American Gardens

This piece feature's Bunny William's Connecticut conservatory.
Bunny has such an elegant hand with her homes and her gardens- often formal they are never stuffy. Bunny Williams grew up in Virginia and now has a country home in Connecticut. Being a Virginia/Connecticut girl myself, I love that this space combines things I love about both state aesthetics- there is something very Thomas Jefferson about this scene and the way the buildings and gardens are set up in relation to one another- but it also has these huge overarching bowes which are so significantly found in Connecticut. One of my strongest memories of the state is how the huge oaks sway and move in the wind.

Over 80% of land is privately owned gardens in America- what a testament to how much we love our land and find refuge in it. The American garden's vision seems always to be about giving to others.

Original Artwork

Original art is the most valuable; the most sought after; the most desired. At our worst, we have stolen, betrayed, and killed for it. At our best, we have humbly cried before it-and it’s changed our hearts and lives and world view and perspective for the better.

In creating, the artist is imparting herself onto the paper. An artist’s hand in creating the work of art mimics our ultimate creator. In owning the original you’re owning a glimpse of the alpha. Lydia’s artwork is created on French watercolor paper with a variety of high quality pigments and brushes that are all collected in striving to imbue her paintings with a sense of the meaning that sits just beyond our gaze.
