ABOUT THE COLLECTION
HUNT COUNTRY OILS

Lydia's first fell in love with oils as a student painting master copies of Willard Metcalf and John Singer Sargent. This is Lydia's first debut of oil work as a part of her professional portfolio. These six petite pieces depict the gracious landscape of the region and landscape surrounding Lydia's childhood home in Loudoun County. Inspired by many walks throughout the years and solitary sunrises especially throughout the summer of 2020. These are perspectives that have bubbled to the surface of inspiration as summer approaches. Each of the pieces were painted in a limited color palette to best communicate the beautiful summery haze of a Virginia summer.

These pieces are sold exclusively as originals.

ORIGINAL ARTWORK:
Each original painting has been painted on 300 lb hand torn French watercolor paper with a variety of high quality pigments that show off the brilliant color of each location. The paper and the pigment come together to give a truly unique artwork.

If you select a frame for this piece the painting would be float mounted on matting to showcase the painting's natural torn rough edge. This results in an uneven textural edge. Please note in the order if you would prefer to have this edge beneath the matting instead.

Original Artwork

Original art is the most valuable; the most sought after; the most desired. At our worst, we have stolen, betrayed, and killed for it. At our best, we have humbly cried before it-and it’s changed our hearts and lives and world view and perspective for the better.

In creating, the artist is imparting herself onto the paper. An artist’s hand in creating the work of art mimics our ultimate creator. In owning the original you’re owning a glimpse of the alpha. Lydia’s artwork is created on French watercolor paper with a variety of high quality pigments and brushes that are all collected in striving to imbue her paintings with a sense of the meaning that sits just beyond our gaze.
